in a believer democracy,
only the super man can do
what needs to be done––
all hail
true believers
don’t criticize––
don’t make demands
true believers don’t need
to read¬¬––
or think––
or open their eyes
too wide
they just need to cheer
when prompted
they would do
anything to be
stomping & hurrahing
in the presence of the aura
of their super man
only he
is justly unlimited
by law
only he
is what they
believe in
only he can lift them
from their exhaustion––
give them hope––
offer them a reason
for not being
sad
for him
they forsake
all else
in him they have faith
to batter back their
enemies & protect them
from evil
only he can save
the unborn––
can drive away foreigners––
can keep their rifles
in their hands
only he can give them
freedom to flush
the heartburn out of their
heads to scald the non-
believers––
he asks them to do
nothing for their country
only he can calm their souls
& shuttle them to
ecstasy––
& all they need to do is
show up when it’s time––
wave their flags––
& cheer!
