upside-down

freedom for the people
is a risk
& a danger––

freedom for their egos
& madnesses––

especially if
they’re too agitated &
afraid to love
their brothers––
& their greed is
meticulously laundered
into virtue

freedom of speech
becomes freedom to
lie––

the right to bear arms––
the right to
kill––

freedom of the press
revised to freedom to
deceive––

freedom of religion
mangled into segregation,
damnation & humiliation––

as the pursuit of personal
happiness
tramples over every
thing

where id is king––
fairness & justice are
frauds––

the commonwealth is
mortgaged &
the gated-kingdom of
heaven on earth
is in sole possession
of the rich––

their whims are
holy
their power
supreme––

& the nations within
their grasp
are one big
brawl

economics is the
guillotine
that separates the
wealthy from the
poor––

condemning bankrupt
heads
to a basket of
horrors––

while the worldly
gods relax
on padded couches

and acre-by-
foreclosed-acre
they inherit
the earth
