most every human
alive today
was seriously injured
by their up-bringing
whether red
white
black
yellow
or other.
Americans were once
excited by invention––
now,
they’re addicted
to being
entertained––
they worked together
for victory
in a world war––
now,
they’ve written-off
decades of military
defeats
& worship
the flag.
the American eagle
peers into a mirror
& sees
fox news.
the dollar says
“In God we trust”
but we settle for
Trump.
we are a nation
at war with
itself––
managed
by a great president
who is too common sensical
for us
to understand.
the Russians
are committing
suicide
by combat
& the Chinese
are dreaming
reckless dreams
of imperialist
world empire.
the earth's climate
is in rebellion
& the pole ice is
melting
& an unending assault
on humanity has
begun.
why must
so many animals
die out &
disappear?
why do we
allow war
to tear
so many hearts
away?
isn’t the soul
more holy
than the
ego?
isn’t wisdom
more sacred than
ignorance?
truth than falsehood?
honesty than greed?
soon we’ll see.
