table for one

in my twenties
i returned
to the acropolis restaurant
each day after work.

my table was set
the waiters poured
my full glass of ouso
the chef would
share his kitchen & his craft.

these days
i dine alone less often.

the restaurants are expensive
the waiters impersonal
& kitchens off-limits
for insurance reasons.

a table for one
is no longer appetizing.
