dissenting opinion

mr. bush, i do not
trust
you.

i wonder at your
need for
secrecy.

i don’t know who
you’re working for,
but it’s not for
me.

i have no wish to
forfeit even a
sliver of my
freedom to your
authority.

i pledge my
allegiance to the
welcoming nation of
liberty;

not to a
cabal of un
disclosed ideologues
craving uninhibited
control.

i am afraid of
you.

afraid for
my civil
liberties;

afraid of your
swagger, your
righteousness, your
belligerence.

afraid of your
hormonal command
of earthly
fate.

there have never
been so many
enemies of our
country;

so many
individual human
beings who feel
threatened and
humiliated by our
incessant & unwarranted
plunderings into their
lives;

& by your terrible
example, they swear
to kill
us.

you’ve perfected our
want of prudence &
good faith.

if jefferson, lincoln or
wilson were
president, this would
not be
so––

but you’re the
boss
& the world’s in
trouble.
