that all men are
created equal–– WITH SOME
EXCEPTIONS…
a death-tide of white people
flooded across a virgin wilderness
to dominate, humiliate, segregate &
kill
who claims otherwise?
from 1776 to 1865
slavery was a law in this
land
we fought a great civil
war & so so many
free men died
attacking & defending
slavery––
& so so many never
doubted their racial
yes
& the indian wars with
their trails of tears––
geographical genocide
across the fruited
plains
dignified people,
keepers of the earth
stripped of their roots
exiled from their lands
or simply erased by
germs & steel & grief––
humans worth less than slaves
& remember the chinese men
who pounded the nation’s railroad
through the unyielding mountains?
such persons were excluded
from our shores from 1875 to
1943 as a yellow peril
why did this nation of the brave
descend upon its Japanese citizens
& declare all persons of
such ancestry be deported or
caged?
& why must we be building
internment camps for
suffering refugee families
arriving with exhausted hope
at the borders of our richest country?
& how can godly christian
families & protectors of the unborn
ever endure the sundering
of a single parent from a
single child?
why must this nation over & over
be reminded––
BLACK LIVES MATTER?
how many ameikans truly believe
in white supremacy?
“we must secure the
existence of our people &
a future for white children …
because the beauty of the white
Aryan woman must not perish”…
why aren’t we finally ready to live
in a nation where people are not
judged by the color of their
skin, but by the content
of their character?
in this heartland
without a beating heart
